DELMAR, Del. - Two suspects are at large after police say that they broke into the Delmar Speedway. Delaware State Police responded to an alarm activation call at the Speedway, where they met with one of the owners, who told them that the front gate was open and the lock had been cut.
According to police, they saw a black Pontiac Grand Am parked next to the gas pumps near the drag strip, they were able to take the 17-year-old driver into custody. They also found three sheds and the race tower had been broken into, causing damage to the locks and structures.
Their investigation showed that two 23-year-olds, Thomas Bowman Jr., of Ellendale, and Charles Brewington, of Seaford, were also involved, but had fled by the time police arrived. The Ellendale 17-year-old was charged with 3rd degree burglary, possession of burglar tools, 2nd degree criminal trespass, and other related offences. He was later released to his parent.
