SALISBURY, Md. - We have new information tonight about the lightening strikes which damaged 2 homes in the Turtle Creek neighborhood last night in Salisbury. Authorities tell us that they were responding to a home on Diamond Back Drive, after it had been struck by lightening, igniting a fire.
As they were finishing up at that residence, another a bolt of lightening reportedly struck the home across the street! Luckily, we're told, no one was hurt in either incident.
Assistant Chief of the Salisbury Fire Department, Jim Gladwell, said "for specific homes who have a higher risk, a tall home amongst smaller homes, uh, even single story homes that are out in open fields."
Once you've got the outside of your house covered, Gladwell says don't forget lightning can wreak havoc inside as well. He says you should invest in surge protectors and remember to unplug valuable electronics, otherwise they could get fried. Lightning has sparked quite a few blazes recently on the Shore.
So, we wanted to see what you could do, if anything, to avoid a costly fire.
