SALISBURY, Md. - Salisbury Police Chief Barbara Duncan's efforts were worth it Tuesday night. The city council agreed to put the request for funding on their upcoming agenda.
On Tuesday Chief Duncan presented the city council with a request for $400,000 to distribute to 60 officers.
She says this is the fourth year in a row officers haven't received raises and this money would bring them closer to what other officers in surrounding agencies are earning. Duncan argued that current staffing conditions impact their crime fighting ability - they are currently down 8 officers.
The Chief also hopes the council will continue this push year after year.
The council's next meeting will be held next Monday.
