LAUREL, Del. - A convicted Laurel sex offender has been indicted on charges related to child pornography. Authorities say that David Schultz, 53, was charged with production, receipt and possession of child pornography.
The Department of Homeland Security were tipped off to Schultz, after they arrested a man in Maryland on similar charges. They searched his home, where they reportedly removed more than 30 computers and other evidence.
Police say that on those computers they found a video of Schultz directing a young underage female and young adult male to engage in various sex acts. The video was reportedly shot at Schultz's Laurel home. They say they also found evidence on the computers that showed they were used to receive and keep child pornography.
Schultz's sex offender status stems from a 1995 conviction where he pled guilty to sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.
For the producing child pornography charge alone, Schultz faces a minimum prison sentence of 25 years, with a possible additional 10 years because of his sex offender status. On each charge Schultz faces a maximum fine of $250,000.
He has been behind bars since August 15th.
