Two Teenagers Taken To Hospital After Georgetown Crash

Posted: Updated:

GEORGETOWN, Del. - A crash involving a car and three juveniles on bicycles is being investigated. It all happened on Thursday afternoon a little before 4 PM, on Zoar Road in Georgetown.

Police say that Alfred Wyatt, 47, of Ellendale, was driving, coming up to the railroad tracks West of Shockley Road, and the 12, 14, and 15-year-old boys were in front of him. Their investigation shows that Wyatt was passing the three boys on the left, when they suddenly began to cross the road right in front of the car.

Police say that Wyatt tried to break, and swerve even more to the left, to avoid the bikers, but he hit two of the three bicycles with the front of the car. The 14 and 15-year-olds were taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, with non-life threatening injuries. The 12-year-old was not injured in the crash.

Reportedly, none of the three boys were wearing helmets. Wyatt was cited for driving while suspended, failure to have insurance in possession, and failure to change address.
