MARYLAND - The Westbound span of the Bay Bridge had been re-opened. Authorities say that after Tuesday mornings unscheduled inspections, the bridge has been deemed safe.
It is now open, and operating regularly. Officials say it was closed on Monday night because workers reported unusual vertical movement.
They determined the movement was because of wind patterns and containment measures, like tarps, that were there because of on-going work, caused the unusual movements that the workers felt. The containment measures were later removed.
MDTA is thanking everyone for the cooperation and patience during the closure. Call 1-877-BAYSPAN (229-7726) for the latest traffic conditions.
