WORCESTER COUNTY, Md. - A Berlin couple is charged for staging a robbery at a hat store in West Ocean City. Police say Lids at the Tanger Outlets was robbed of more than $28,000 in merchandise on August 3rd. The employee, Kevin Purnell, told investigators he was tied up, beat up, and robbed at gunpoint by a light-skinned black male. However, surveillance video showed a light skinned female, who turned out to be his wife Rosnell. Luckily, all the hats were recovered.
"The two of them were actually arrested Friday in Baltimore off of 895 on a traffic stop. The hats were located inside the van, as well as a loaded handgun," said Detective Sergeant Mike Lupiwok of the Worcester County Bureau of Investigations.
Both suspects are facing numerous charges. Both are being held on $100,000 bond.
