SALISBURY, Md. - Charlotte Gordy Seidel, 87, of Salisbury, Maryland, died August 16, 2012, at her home. Raised in Pocomoke City, she was the daughter of Henry Strayer and Edna Riley Gordy. Her husband of 54 years, Sheldon B. Seidel, died in 2001. She was valedictorian of her class at Pocomoke High School and graduated from Salisbury State Teachers' College where she met her husband before he served in WWII. She was a teacher in Baltimore City and at Pinehurst School in Salisbury. She later worked with her husband in his law practice.

Charlotte was predeceased by her brothers H. Strayer Gordy Jr., Robert Gordy, and A. Riley Gordy. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Seidel Tilghman and Sara Seidel Stivelman, their husbands, S. Mark Tilghman and Michael Stivelman, her five grandchildren, Matthew Tilghman, Joseph Tilghman, Carter Tilghman, Spencer Tilghman, and Tori Stivelman, all of Salisbury, her nephew Henry Gordy III and his wife, Bonnie, of York, Pennsylvania, and many other cousins, nieces, and nephews and their families.

Services will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2012, at 2:30 p.m. at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beth Israel Synagogue, the Arthritis Foundation, the American Parkinson Disease Association, or a charity of the donor's choice.
