Apartment Fire in Fruitland

Posted: Updated:

FRUITLAND, MD- Friday evening, a fire broke out at the Poplar Street Apartment Complex in Fruitland.

Emergency officials say that the fire broke out a little before 7 PM Friday evening. Fruitland Police arrived on the scene to find flames shooting out of apartment windows. They proceeded to evacuate the building prior to the arrival of fire crews.

According to authorities, no one was injured in the fire.

The red cross was on the scene helping displaced victims. "That's going to be a challenge but we got good people working with the red cross and the owner of the complex is a pretty good guy.  He's out of town but he said he's going to work with local people to get them taken care of," says John McIntire, the Fruitland Fire Department assistant fire chief.
