DOVER,
Del. - A pediatrician who researches near-death experiences
involving children has been suspended by Delaware officials after his
daughter told investigators she was subjected to waterboarding.
Dr. Melvin Morse and his wife were arrested this week on felony
counts of conspiracy and reckless endangering involving their two
daughters, ages 6 and 11.
State medical officials said
Thursday that Morse would present a "clear and immediate danger" to
public health if allowed to continue practicing medicine.
Morse has written several books and articles on paranormal
science and near-death experiences involving children. He has appeared
on shows such as "Larry King Live" and the "Oprah Winfrey Show" to
discuss his research.
Waterboarding simulates drowning and it has been used in the
past by U.S. interrogators on terror suspects. Many critics call it
torture.
