FELTON, Del. - "I miss having you beside me and not just in my heart," says twelve year old Jamie Ewell.
A heartfelt cry from a young girl who's grieving over the loss of a loved one.
"Now that your gone, I finally now know that you cannot put my hair up in a red bow," says Ewell.
Jamie recently lost her mother and grandmother. She's come to Camp New Hope at Killens Pond State Park where she's being taught to cope with a family loss at a tender age.
"It gives me comfort and it gives me relief that I finally get to talk about it.... when I don't talk about I feel like there's this heavy cloud and I'm being poured on with rain," says Ewell.
Over fifty children and teenagers are learning proper ways to express their feelings.
"When you lose a loved one, yes, your life is impacted greatly and it hurts, but its ok to have fun again too, it ok to laugh and meet new friends and that's part of the healing journey," says Robin Murphy, Camp Director at Camp New Hope
Ten year old Chase Waite recently lost his grandmother.
"It was a big lose because we did the garden and everything, like football, she came to my games," says Chase Waite, who's grandmother died.
The work doesn't have to end at Summer camp. The host, Delaware Hospice, offers support groups in schools and educational workshops throughout the year.
