WMDT 47 NEWS - Cities and towns across Delmarva are gearing up for this year's National Night Out.
The annual event is scheduled for Tuesday evening and involves citizens, law enforcement agencies and community civic groups. The purpose of the event is to raise awareness of crime and drug prevention.
In Salisbury, the evening will include a raffle, pet parade, kick ball game and free food among other things. Salisbury's National Night Out will take place at City Park at 6 p.m. Several organizations will be attending including the Salisbury Zoo, American Red Cross, State's Attorney's Office, Child Advocacy Center and Wicomico County Health Department.
The town of Easton is participating in the national event for the sixth year. Festivities are scheduled to take place at Moton Park from 5-9 p.m. and free swimming is scheduled from 5-6:30 p.m. at the George Murphy pool. The Town of Easton, Easton Police Department, Easton Department of Parks and Recreation and Talbot County Department of Parks and Recreation is hosting this year's event.
In Princess Anne, the evening will include a moonbounce, K-9 demonstrations, taser demonstration, free food, prizes and giveaways among other things. There will also be information provided from the Somerset County Health Department, Princess Anne Fire Department, Maryland State Police, Somerset County Sheriff's Office, Somerset County Local Management Board and Somerset County Department of Social Services. The event is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. at the Garland Hayward Youth Center.
The City of Crisfield is inviting the entire family out to their event at the Somers Cove Marina Pavilion from 6-8 p.m. There will be free food and face painting and a waterslide for the children.
