DEWEY BEACH, Del. - New information on those Dewey Beach town meetings that were found in violation, by the Delaware Attorney General's Office. Officials now say "Dewey Beach appears to have been singled out for actions that seem to be common practice." Other towns have reportedly canceled their meetings and changed their agendas, as a result. Last month, Mayor Diane Hanson told WMDT she was blind-sided by all this, and wasn't sure how to rectify the situation.
The president of the Delaware Coalition for Open Government released a statement challenging the Deputy Attorney General: "We hope the Attorney General will listen to the Dewey Town Council's side of the story before he undertakes further action. It would be a waste of the taxpayer's money to take court time to handle what can be done simply."
