HARRINGTON, Del. - Agriculture has always been at the heart of the Delaware State Fair and young hearts committed to the field were honored Friday. The Delaware Future Farmers Association held their annual awards breakfast where over 100 students received awards in over 20 different categories.
There are 300 agricultural careers offered through the FFA. Andrew Adams team from Seaford High School was one of the winners. "we were given an issue that was big in agriculture and this one was ethanol and it was almost like a mini-debate within ourselves, we had to talk about who it effected and how it effected them.
Executive Secratary, Stacey Hofmann, says "students that are involved in FFA they are taking home leadership skills, knowing how to speak well, how to interview for jobs, basic skills employers are looking for." All first place winners today will attend the national FFA convention this October out in Indianapolis which will attract over 50,000 students.
