Girl, 12, dies after being shot at Md. home

WILLARDS, Md. (AP) - Authorities in Wicomico County say a 12-year-old girl has died after being shot at her home.

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office says Taylor Lewis was shot in the head Thursday while inside her home on State Street in Willards.

County Sheriff Mike Lewis, who is not related to the deceased girl, says the preliminary investigation indicates the shooting was accidental and a rifle was taken as evidence. He said there was no reason to believe the gun was not legally owned.

An investigation is ongoing.
