BRIDGEVILLE, Del. - Six teenagers are behind bars after allegedly breaking into a Bridgeville home early Saturday morning.
Delaware State Police say that around 1:35 AM, four males were inside of their home, on Mill Park Drive in Coverdale Crossroads, when four suspects entered the home and confronted the victims with guns. The suspects reportedly demanded cash and belongings from the victims. One of the suspects allegedly fired a bullet before fleeing. Two of the victims were injured during a physical altercation, but did not need on-scene medical attention.
As troopers were searching the area, they found two 17-year-old suspects, who matched the descriptions given, walking in the area and took them into custody. A police investigation also lead to the arrest of a 16-year-old male from Bridgeville, and Tyquan Matthews, 18, of Laurel, who attempted to flee from police and had be tazed. A Laurel Police officer sustained injuries from a altercation with Matthews and was treated and released from Nanticoke Hospital. Jason Long Jr., and Jervis Cox, both 19 and of Bridgeville, turned themselves in on Sunday afternoon.
All six suspects were charged with 1st degree robbery, 1st degree burglary, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and other related charges. Long and Cox were committed to SCI on $76,000.00 bond.
Matthews who was additionally charged with 2nd degree assault on law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, and criminal mischief was committed to SCI on $79,500.00 bond. The three juveniles are being held at Stevenson House on bonds.
