WALLOPS ISLAND, Va. - A local landmark is celebrating a big anniversary, and the public is invited to help! On July 28th the NASA Visitor Center at the Wallops Flight Facility is having a party to celebrate their 30th anniversary.
The event will include special presentations and activities throughout the day. There will be toddler story time at 10:30 AM, followed by a puppet show at 11 AM. Starting at 1 PM there will be a flying high presentation and kite construction activity. The last activity of the day will be a presentation of Wallops history at 2:15 PM. The day will also include craft activities for kids and visitors will have the opportunity to view the nearest star with a solar telescope.
The Visitor Center, part of the Robert L. Krieger Education Complex, is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is located on Va. Route 175 about six miles from U.S. Route 13 and five miles from Chincoteague, Va. Admission to the Visitor Center is free.
