SALISBURY, Md. - A local city is making one of its intersections safer, thanks to funding from a local University. The City of Salisbury and Salisbury University have partnered to make Bateman Street and Onley Road a safer intersection, by adding a traffic light, and other improvements.
Mayor Jim Ireton on President Janet Dudley-Eshbach will break ground on the project on July 19th at 11 AM.
The improvements to the area include, a new traffic light, sidewalks, street lights, and other streetscape changes. Bateman Street will be turned into a Westbound one-way road, with a bike lane, and drivers will now be able to turn left onto Onley Road from South Division Street.
The project is projected to cost $280,000 with $180,000 of that coming from the University.
