Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge Needs Volunteers

Posted: Updated:

CAMBRIDGE, Md. - A local organization is seeking volunteers to help at its facility. Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge is looking for volunteers to help with programs, in the visitors center, gardening, and much more. The refuge has a variety of habitats to support a diversity of wildlife. They have over 180,000 visitors from all over throughout the year, and they need your help!

On Saturday August 4th from 8:30 AM until 4 PM a volunteer workshop will be held to update new and seasoned volunteers on projects that are currently happening at the refuge. This training session is open to current volunteers as well as any member of the public interested in becoming a Refuge volunteer.

On August 9th from 9 AM until 12 Noon, there will be another training session to introduce new volunteers to the Volunteer Program at Blackwater NWR. This session will teach potential volunteers about what volunteering at the refuge entails, and overview of Visitor Center operating procedures.

If you are interesting in being a volunteer for Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge contact Michele Whitbeck at 410-901-6124 x23 or email at Michele_Whitbeck@fws.gov.
