Stranded Jet Skiers Rescued In Talbot County

Posted: Updated:

TALBOT COUNTY, Md. - Maryland State Police rescued two stranded jet skiers on Skipton Creek Monday night.

Police say around 10:34 p.m. they received a request from the Talbot County Emergency Operations Center to help in locating and rescuing the two victims in the area of U.S. Route 50 between Wye Mills and Easton.

Police say the two victims grounded their personal water crafts in the mud in the middle of the creek. The victims were stranded at night and exposed to the elements for 3 hours with no ability to return to shore.

The flight crew onboard the helicopter, Trooper 6, was able to quickly locate the 18-year-old female and 22-year-old male victim stranded in the middle of the creek with their water crafts. Trooper 6 was able to hoist both victims to shore. First responders then assessed the victims for injuries.

Maryland Natural Resource Police are investigating.
