Local Make-A-Wish Teen's Dream Comes True In OC

Posted: Updated:

OCEAN CITY, Md. -- For Danny Lockhart, life has been an uphill battle. At 16-years-old, he received the gift of a dream come true.

"I didn't think that I could ever get something this awesome to happen to me," he tells WMDT.

The Make A Wish Foundation granted Danny his wish of being featured on 93.5 The Beach's "Worst Show Ever." By his smile you'd never know that Danny suffers from complications of scoliosis. After doctors tried to fix his back, they dislocated his neck, not knowing for three whole months.

"I couldn't stand up for more than 30 minutes and it was just getting worse and worse."

So host J.J. Roth wanted to do more than just have Danny on his show. He spent an entire week with the teen and his family, doing everything Ocean City has to offer.

"We're just local people and for someone that is not from this area to reach out and use his wish on someone like me, I mean, I don't deserve that. And they keep saying thank you to me, but actually, I've been thanking them because it was the best week of my life," Roth says.

But this week was about more than just a good time. Local businesses stepped up, giving donations to help Danny and others fighting the same battle.

"Then he gave us all these donations that all these people made and I can't thank them enough," Danny says.

"Every single business that I went to in Ocean City, it wasn't a well it was a how much do you want what can I do for you," Roth adds.
