SALISBURY, Md. - Mary Elliott, 97, of Salisbury entered into eternal rest on Thursday, July 5, 2012. Mary was born in Parsonsburg, the second child of four born to her parents, Grover C. and Bertha A. Phillips Davis also of Parsonsburg.

Along with the hard work of a farm wife and raising her family, Mary worked as an independent bus contractor in Wicomico County for 26 years and as a cafeteria aide, retiring from Parkside School after 16 years of service in 1976. She also hung wallpaper (a job she loved) for area families for many years.

She leaves to follow her demise a beloved son, Jack H. Elliott and his wife, Sherry of Salisbury and a special step-daughter Ruby Marshall, also of Salisbury. Her only daughter, Doris Marshall preceded her to Heaven in February 2004. Also preceding her in death in 1979 was her husband Walter Elliott and her stepson Richard Elliott in 1991. Her brother Elwood Davis and two sisters Mildred Davis and Dolsie Aydelotte along with two half sisters, Kathleen Parker and Shirley Davis are also deceased. She leaves to mourn her memory 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 3 great great- grands.

Mary was a former member of Delmarva Evangelistic Church here in Salisbury for nearly 40 years where her Sunday school teacher Ruth Chamberlain firmly believed one of her greatest talents for the Lord was baking her homemade bread she so freely shared with the church and others. She currently was a member of Impact Church of Fruitland. She may best be remembered for her faith in God, her compassionate love for family and friends and her special talent for making homemade goodies and breads.

Mary had a great smile, a hearty laugh and a delightful sense of humor that never failed to entertain her many family and relatives. She was a wonderful, hard-working and helpful neighbor, friend, Mom and Grandmom making her very endeared and respected by all who knew her and sadly missed by those that loved her.

The family extends its heartfelt thanks to the nurses, aides and staff of Wicomico Nursing Home for their many kindnesses to Mrs. Elliott during her illness.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Holloway Funeral Home with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Officiating will be the Rev. Howard Travers and the Rev. Wayne Parsons. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Fruitland near her belated husband.

Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, P.A., 501 Snow Hill Rd., Salisbury, MD 21804. Please visit www.hollowayfh.com to express condolences to the family.
