LAUREL, Del. - American patriotism was in full boom with plenty of flags, floats and fun at the 18th annual Laurel Independence Day parade. Jason Culver and his son Noah have been attending the festivities for five years and love how it brings the community together.
"Kids get involved, family gets involved in it and its just a small town atmosphere that makes it enjoyable." says Jason Culver a Laurel resident.
Hundreds lined the streets to see 80 different entries in this years parade which included antique tractors and cars along with election year political statements. The Laurel Fire Department sponsors the event each year.
"The fire company is really proud to put it on every year,its just a big thing for the town, numerous fire companies from different areas with their trucks, kids love that." says Steve Brittingham, Co-Chairman Independence Day Parade.
The parade covered a two mile route through the town of Laurel and it appeared to be a hit with everyone of all ages.
"There was a lot of John Deere tractors, that was really cool," says Melissa who loves tractors. "Its a local town thing where you get to see the fire trucks from your own town." says Amy Littleton, Laurel Resident. Morgan, who knew some parade participants, says, "My friends were like in the parade and they had a lot of fun."
