More Than 276,000 Still Without Power In Va.

Posted: Updated:

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - More than 276,000 electricity customers across Virginia have no service as crews work to repair power lines and equipment damaged by severe storms.

Appalachian Power's outage map shows 141,478 customers didn't have power Tuesday morning. More than 21,000 outages were in Lynchburg, the most in Appalachian Power's service area.

Dominion Virginia Power's outage map shows 122,310 outages, including more than 79,000 in Northern Virginia.

Electric cooperatives report more than 12,000 outages.

The utilities say it could take the rest of the week to fully restore power.

Gov. Bob McDonnell says Friday night's storms caused the largest non-hurricane related power outages in state history.
