REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. (AP) - State officials are celebrating the completion of beach nourishment projects along Delaware's southern coast and the inclusion of 2 Delaware beaches on a list of the nation's best.

Gov. Jack Markell and members of the congressional delegation were to gather Tuesday morning in Rehoboth Beach to highlight beach nourishment projects in Lewes, Rehoboth, Dewey, Bethany, South Bethany and Fenwick beaches.

The beach nourishment projects, which cost about $35 million, are aimed at protecting communities from flooding and coastal storms.

Officials also will celebrate the five-star ratings given to Rehoboth and Dewey beaches for their swimming water quality by the National Resources Defense Council.
