WMDT 47 NEWS- Effective as of 9:00 PM on Saturday, there is an open air burn ban in effect for Dorchester County. We're told the County Council made the decision Saturday evening due to a number of wild field fires that started Saturday afternoon.
This burn ban will be in effect through the fourth of July holiday but residents can still use gas or charcoal grills. Burning is still allowed is it is supervised by qualified fire instructors or a fire chief, captain or fire line officer of a fire department that has fire jurisdiction over the area where the supervised burning occurs.
Any person is found violating the burn ban may be fined.
