DEWEY BEACH, Del. - Mike Spence, the General Manager of Ruddertowne, says "It dropped on our awning collapsed it, and knocked the railing off the deck as well." Winds at up to 65 miles an hour toppled an awning and damaged the deck at the Lighthouse Restaurant on Dickinson Street. It happened early Monday morning during all that wild weather we had. Workers quickly tried to clean-up it up.
"It was really surprising when we first looked at it, it looked like just a monstrous task," says the General Manager. "We had a dumpster here an hour after it happened I say by noon most of the debris was all cleaned up. We then got the awning out of here and by 6-6:30 Monday night. The last parts of the rail were going back-up secured," explains the GM.
The restaurant did open that day after it took employees three hours to pick up all the debris. Officials say they are still going to have to do some repair work though.
