WORCESTER CO, Md. - Roughly 2 weeks since police discovered the body of Nicole Bennett dumped in a secluded area of Worcester County. investigators remain tight-lipped over the details.

Maryland State Police admit there isn't much more they can tell us about the murder investigation of 35-year-old Bennett. So far, no one has been charged or arrested for her death.

"Circumstances and situations are different in every case," explains Greg Shipley, Director of Media Communications with the Maryland State Police. "And I would urge the public to be patient and to be assured that our police department and the ones we work with are working very hard on this case to bring it to a successful conclusion."

Police confirmed Nicole Bennett disappeared on the evening of Thursday, June 14th. She was working at Bay Shore Community Church in Millsboro, Delaware that night. The next morning police discovered her body about 5 miles away from the church, just over the state line, on Swamp Road in Worcester County, MD.

They later transported her body to the chief medical examiner's office in Baltimore to determine the cause of death. But weeks later, police still won't say how she died. "It's not that we're deliberately trying to keep anything from the public, or not do our job," stresses Shipley. "We are trying to find out who is responsible for this murder and collect evidence for a case that will result in successful prosecution."

Police have not ruled out any suspects, yet. This includes family members.

WMDT touched base with the Bennett family on Tuesday to see how they're doing. Nicole's husband, Kevin Bennett, and the 3 girls are still in Nebraska where Nicole was buried over the weekend.

We're told the family spoke a number of times with detectives about the course of the investigation, but have been asked not to disclose anything about the case.

A trust fund has been set up for Bennett's family called the "Nicole Reiser Bennett Memorial Fund". The account has been set up at the Millsboro Branch of WSFS Bank.
