OCEAN CITY, Md. - Maryland elected officials flooded Ocean City Monday to learn, educate, and share thoughts and ideas on their cities economic situations. These community leaders will bounce ideas off each other for the next 3-days, each looking to improve their city.
Scott Hancock, the Executive Director of the Maryland Municipal League says, "The Maryland Municipal League is a educational group. We teach city and town leaders who have been elected how to run their cities more effectively."
"It kind of gives us the hope that we're not in this alone, that we have other partners that are out there that are going through the same things,"says Michael Bennett the President of MML.
Cambridge officials and the Mayor of Delmar had a meeting of the minds--with the mayor receiving advice on how to handle his potential amphitheater coming to town.
"I was able to network with some folks from Cambridge who have Sail One's Park, and they talked about the sound study that they did for their amphitheater there and we're going to look into doing that same thing," says the Mayor of Delmar Carl Anderton.
City and town officials benefit greatly from this conference by building relationships with other elected officials, and learn from each other's mistakes.
"Why go out and reinvent the wheel. When you can see what is working and what is not working from your colleagues," says Fmr. Governor Glendening.
