SALISBURY, Md. - Monday, lightning struck a church steeple at Faith Community Church on North Division Street.
Salisbury Fire Department responded around 3 PM. They say it appears it struck on one side and spiraled through and out the other, sending debris to the ground. Firefighters say luckily it didn't spark a blaze and the interior of the building seems to be intact.
The senior pastor told us he wasn't there, but one of the church's janitors witnessed the whole thing. "He told me that it looked like an explosion - an explosion that maybe somebody had set a bomb off in the church. Then he realized it was a lightning strike, but he had never seen the slate blow out like that," said Harvey Dixon.
We're told no one was injured.
