WMDT 47 NEWS- Berlin troopers are currently investigating a serious accident that has left one man currently in critical condition. At approximately 4:16 PM on June 21st, a vehicle being operated by a man identified as Gary Edward Bachman was traveling northbound on Maryland Route 589 South of Manklin Creek Road in Berlin, Maryland.
For reasons unknown, Bachman abruptly swerved right, leaving the northbound lane and then the vehicle struck a tree. Then, Bachman's vehicle caught fire and trapped him in the vehicle. Two unidentified Hispanic males stopped at the scene, cut the operators seatbelt and removed him from the burning vehicle. The names of the two Hispanic males are unknown because they left the scene before being identified. A nearby resident of the area doused the vehicle fire with a garden hose.
Bachman was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center and then flown to Shock Trauma for treatment. He is currently listed in critical condition.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
