WMDT 47 NEWS- The Delaware State Police have arrested a Magnolia man after he attempted to kill his girlfriend.
The incident occurred Wednesday June 20th at approximately at 9:07 AM after Robert J. Valencia called 911 to report that his 40 year old girlfriend had fallen down the steps and needed an ambulance assistance.
The female was then transported to Kent General Hospital with serious life-threatening injuries. Troopers were called to the hospital to investigate the incident.
Later, it was revealed that Valencia and his girlfriend had become involved in a physical altercation after the female informed Valencia that she wanted to end the relationship. Valencia began assaulting the female and at one point pulled a knife with a long blade and began waving it in her direction before pushing her down the basement stairs. While in the basement, the assaults continued with Valencia strangling the victim and informing her he was going to kill her. After the assaults had ceased, Valencia called 911 to report that the victim had fallen down the stairs.
Valencia, who had gone to the hospital with the victim, was transported back to Troop 3 and then charged with Attempted Murder 1st and Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony. He was arraigned and committed on $150,000.00 cash bond.
The victim is currently in critical condition at Kent General Hospital.
