MILTON, Del. - A championship winning under 13 soccer team in Cape Henlopen needs your help. Parents and players have be working together to raise funds for an important trip.
"Please help us we need money to buy the hotels, funds, anything will help," says a player on the Wahoo's.
The Cape Henlopen Wahoo's are calling on the community. Winning back to back State championships these boys have been working hard to raise every penny to fund their trip to the regional playoffs in Pennsylvania.
"They've been out 3-4 days a week sitting at corners in front of stores, selling raffle tickets basically trying to do anything they can. I mean its expensive," says the head coach.
"We've gone outside of stores while the boys were practicing, and we asked for donations and 50-50 raffle," says a sibling of one of the players.
"We had like a carnival and a car wash we got to hang out, but we still made money," another player states.
Parents of the players have also teamed up to help the team out. By saying, "We have created among the children and the parents a very tight bond and we're very proud of them in the way they've evolved and grown in and out of the field."
To date the Wahoo's have raised nearly 6,000 dollars. With the regional playoffs just right around the corner, they have kicked, fundraising into high gear to reach their goal.
