DEWEY BEACH, Del. - A cause of death has been released for the woman who was murdered in Dewey Beach. Delaware State Police are confirming that Danielle Mehlman's received multiple stab wounds Monday morning. The investigation into the murder is still on-going, no word yet on a motive.
Police say that they suspect that Mehlman and Kumar knew each other and that they may have come down together. Police have confirmed that Kumar is the one who checked into the room.
The body of Danielle Mehlman was found Monday morning by a cleaning woman at the Atlantic Oceanside Motel in Dewey Beach. On Tuesday Police announced Pawan Kumar as a suspect and put out warrants for his arrest. Later Tuesday, Police got word from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office in New Jersey that Kumar had been found dead in a hotel room. The Medical Examiner's Office is still investigating the cause of death, however authorities speculate a suicide caused by drug overdose.
Officials say Mehlman's death is the first murder in Dewey Beach history.
