Mayor Victoria Jackson-Stanley
CAMBRIDGE, Md. - Cambridge Police are now on the hunt for several individuals who may be connected with a murder Monday night. Shots rang through a Cambridge neighborhood claiming the life of 21-year-old La'Bryan Jones of Salisbury. Cambridge Police were called out to Park Lane and Willis Street to find Jones with a single gunshot wound to the head.
"It appears to be a altercation that occurred between Jones and another individual," says Captain Wayne Bromwell of Cambridge PD. "He was transported to Shock Trauma in Baltimore and en route to the hospital he passed."
This is the first homicide in Cambridge since April of 2010. Mayor Jackson-Stanley is now calling on community members to lend a helping hand.
"We need everyone to be on the lookout for anyone who is committing a crime in our community, there are many more citizens than there are policemen," says the Mayor. "We're devastated that one of our young people has been killed, our hearts are broken."
The murder has left residents in shock, with many calling the area quiet and peaceful. One resident says, "We don't really see that everyday . . . Kids just play all day, we sell ice cups across the street, its real quiet."
Another resident says, "I think it's peaceful to a certain extent, but it's not rowdy like the City."
Police are asking anyone with information on the case to call Cambridge Police at 410-228-3333.
