The medical examiner is continuing their investigation into Danielle Mehlman's cause of death.
Her body was found Monday around 10:45 AM by a cleaning woman at the Atlantic Oceanside Motel. Tuesday, Delaware State Police identified Pawan Kumar as a suspect. They had warrants out for his arrest, in connection with the murder. Kumar was facing 1st degree murder, and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony charges.
A store clerk located across the street of the motel says, "It's kind of crazy because nothing real violent ever happens in Dewey. There's bar fights and stuff like that but not people getting killed."
The investigation into this case is on-going.
Dewey Beach Mayor Diane Hanson says "we are deeply saddened by the first murder ever in Dewey Beach history." She has postponed a town meeting that was going to discuss additional public safety measures.
