DELAWARE CITY, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say the bodies of two people were found after a vehicle was pulled out of the C & D canal near Delaware City.
Investigators believe the SUV went into the canal more than a week ago, when the driver, 42-year-old David W. Kaminksi of Wilmington, lost control while speeding along the southern bank of the canal. Police identified Kaminski's passenger as 36-year-old Stefanie M. Miller of Claymont.
The investigation into the crash began Friday after detectives following up on a missing person's case went to the canal and found debris indicating that a vehicle may have entered the water. Searchers on Saturday found the vehicle upside down in about 40 feet of water and 150 feet from the canal bank.
