WMDT 47 NEWS - WMDT is proud to announce the 47 News Team is the recipient of seven awards from the Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association. The awards were presented Saturday night at a banquet in Ocean City.
Most notable among the awards presented, WMDT has been named the 2011 Outstanding News Operation. The Outstanding Enterprise Reporting award went to Alyana Gomez, Gerard Khalid and Mark Johnson for "Untouchables." The Outstanding Documentary/In-Depth Reporting award went to Alyana Gomez and Mike Lawrence for the "Delmar Crash Petition" series. The Outstanding Weathercast award went to Stephanie Allison for her weathercast from March 11, 2011. The Outstanding News Series award went to Emily Lampa, Josh Finamore and Daniel Sperling for the "Worcester County 10 Most Wanted" series (special contribution from Nick Waligorski in editing). The Outstanding Spot News award went to Ashley James and Mike Lawrence for coverage of the "Lewes Tornado." Finally the Outstanding Public Affairs award went to Terrence Lee and Mark Johnson for their work on the "Meet the Money Givers" series.
