
Ralph ArdisPOCOMOKE CITY, Md. - Ralph V. Ardis, 95 of Pocomoke City passed away Sunday, May 27, 2012 at his home. Born in Worcester County on April 22, 1917, he was the son of the late Marion L. and Ada Payne Ardis. Ralph graduated from Pocomoke High School in 1936 and attended the Echols College of Mortuary Science, as well as the Wharton School of Business in Philadelphia. He was employed at the Bradshaw Funeral Parlor in Pocomoke City before serving in World War II. Ralph joined the National Guard in 1938 until he was called to active duty with the United States Army from December 1940 through October 1945. He was stationed at home and abroad in Europe during that time with the 6th Port Transportation Corps. After WWII, Ralph worked as a salesman for Metroplitan Life Insurance Company, Duncan Brothers, and Powell Motors until his retirement. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post #93 . Ralph truly enjoyed working with the public, meeting people and he never new a stranger.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Doris Wolf Ardis; three children, Bettina Ardis Brunelleschi and her husband Filippo of Rome, Italy, Donald R. Ardis of Timonium, MD and Lisa Ardis and her husband David F. Bundick of Modest Town, VA; four grandchildren, Cristina Brunelleschi of Rome, Italy; Gian Brunelleschi and his wife Desi of Munich, Germany; David Brunelleschi of Rome Italy and Julie Quinn and her husbnd Randy of Glyndon, MD; 3 step-grandchildren, Nathan Bundick of Modest Town, VA, Seth Bundick of Woodbridge, VA and Miriam Bundick of Sevierville, TN; seven great-grandchildren, Zachary, Joshua and Kelsey Ann Quinn of Glyndon, MD, Megan and Samuele Brunelleschi of Munich, Germany, and Flavio and Tiziano Franzin of Rome, Italy; 2 step-great-grandchildren, Ian and Sean Bundick of Woodbridge, VA; one sister, Lenora Granberg of Clemson, SC, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Wilson and Alton Ardis.
Family and friends will gather for a visitation, Thursday, from 6 - 8 PM at the Holloway Funeral Home, P.A. in Pocomoke City and a graveside funeral service with military honors, officiated by Rev. Dr. Sally Dolch, will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday in the Remson Methodist Church Cemetery on Sheephouse Road in Pocomoke City. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Ralph's memory to the charity of one's choice.
