PARSONSBURG, Md. - William Hamilton Smith, 89, of Parsonsburg, died Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. Born in Salisbury, MD he was the son of the late, William Dale Smith and Nannie M. Smith Lemon. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a lifetime member of East Side Men's Club and V.F.W. Post 194. He was a veteran of World War II with three years service, which included time in France and Germany. He was a harness racing enthusiast and enjoyed going to spring training for the Baltimore Orioles and was an avid O's fan.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Betty Jo Smith of Parsonsburg; four children and their spouses: Terry and Bill Beauchamp of Parsonsburg, Greg and Joy Smith of Delmar, DE, Tim and Vivian Smith of Salisbury, Lisa and Jeff Parker of Hampstead, MD; nine grandchildren, Beau and Kevin Beauchamp, Michael Smith, J.R. Swartz, Stuart Smith, Katie Fadely, Joshua, Jordan and Jacob Parker; eleven great grandchildren: Desirae Green, Alan-Michael Smith, Caleb and Abby Beauchamp, Coryn Morrison, Jackie, Lucy, Maura and Layla Smith, Connor and Emma Grace Fadely; a brother, Allan D. Smith of Delmar, DE; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry B. Smith and Gerald T. Smith.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at 11:00 am at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. George Patterson will officiate. Interment will be in Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury.
