SALISBURY, Md - Two national organizations are joining forces to give 8 college students an experience of a lifetime. ONE a grassroots advocacy organization that fights extreme poverty, and Chegg, a leading social education platform for students are offering an unique internship for students to work in South Africa and Zambia.
Heather Hatlo-Porter, the Manager of Philanthropy says, "We've really expanded to cover a variety of things including this internship opportunity through our partnership with ONE. Where we wanted to really offer a unique once in a lifetime opportunity to a Chegg student specifically."
These students will have the opportunity to meet with young African students, visit healthcare facilities, and discuss innovation with key community leaders. One of the lucky eight interns that will be participating is Salisbury University International Studies and Communications major James Townsend.
"He (James) displayed some great leadership having been familiar with the area. Obviously he's a local guy. A lot of the students who flew from other parts of the country have never been in DC before. James took a leadership role in showing them around and taking them through the town when they had time off to see the sights. We were really impressed by that as well", says Hatlo-Porter.
