Virginia Ruth Hayes - WMDT 47 News - Delmarva's Choice

SALISBURY, Md. - Virginia Ruth Hayes, 93, of Salisbury, died Friday, April 20, 2012 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. She was born in Pocomoke City, MD to the late, John and Martha (Mattie) Beasley. She was a member of the Allen Memorial Baptist Church in Salisbury, the Elk's Womens Auxiliary, the Wicomico County Humane Society and the AFSA Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Hayes loved to read and had visited the Wicomico Library since she was 15 years old, plus buying books for home. She loved to work crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She also loved to travel and thanked God she had the opportunity to do so. She graduated from Wicomico High School in 1936. She worked at the Manhattan Shirt Co. office for over 30 years.

Her husband of 71 years, C. Edward Hayes Jr. preceded her in death on October 16, 2011. She was also predeceased by 6 sisters, 3 brothers and a niece, Charlotte Landon. Mrs. Hayes is survived by a son, Ronald Hayes; and a niece, Julia Ann Smith. At the time of her death she was lovingly cared for by Tara Ruark, Calvin White and Ina-Rae Ruark, who was beside her at the time of her passing.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Dr. William Warren will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.
