Fatal Boating Accident in Delaware

SEAFORD, Del.- A boating accident near Seaford has left one Lincoln, Delaware man dead. The accident occurred on Saturday morning, April 21st on the Nanticoke River near the Route 13 Bridge.

Division of Fish and Wildlife Enforcement investigators say two boats were participating in a local bass fishing tournament and collided. The collision threw 56 year-old Robert Messick of Lincoln, Delaware into the water. 

Reports say that Messick could not swim and was not wearing a life jacket. Several hours later Seaford Fire Department divers located his body in the river. Four men were aboard the two boats involved in the collision. Mr. Messick was a passenger on boat operated by Phillip G. Craft, 63, of Seaford. The second boat was operated by Kevin Pase, 51, of Milford, with William T. Scharf, 55, of Seaford, as his passenger. The investigation is ongoing.
