OCEAN CITY, Md. - It was a fashion emergency in Ocean City today as dozens of women ripped the runway all for a good cause. WMDT's Stephanie Allison warmed up the crowd as the event's emcee, and our very own Alyana Gomez was one of 32 models. Over 300 people turned out for the fashion show and luncheon, put on by The society of Women Leaders. Some of the featured vendors include Amber Nicole, Nancy N, Vernon Powell, Under The Banyan Tree, Ruddo's Golf and CAbi.
"We started as a fashion show just to raise funds for the lower shore chapter of the American Red Cross, who relies solely on the donations of people in the community to keep the lights on and the doors open," said Alison Sappington, board member for the American Red Cross.
"It's just a fun day but a great cause. We don't want to forget about the cause, but we really go out of our way to make it a fun day," said Karen Tomasello, of the Society of Women Leaders.
Organizers say the event has tripled in size since it began four years ago.
