SALISBURY, Md., - Salisbury's Mayor is gearing up for the annual State Of The City address. Mayor Ireton welcomed WMDT into his office to preview his state of the city address.
Mayor Ireton states, "The state of the city is about really about the highlights of the year of the administration. And for where departments say they are going in 2012."
Highlighting such things as law enforcement, and the downtown area, this year the mayor says he wants to push for several initiatives.
"I wanted to focus in on the work that we do for citizens everyday. And your going to hear words like reactive and proactive, states Ireton." He continues by stating, "Its an excellent opportunity for the mayor of an city to tell the citizens what's going on now, and what we're going to be doing moving into the future."
The mayor states that after his speech, he plans on hitting the streets and taking the message straight to the residents of Salisbury."
"You're going to see me demolishing houses in the next couple of weeks which are a part of this speech. You're going to see me at the top of the parking garage which is a part of this speech", the mayor claims.
And when asked about the pressure of the upcoming election in 2013, the mayor says there is more to do in 2012. "We are far too busy and have far too many things to do to really worry about what comes in 2013, mayor Ireton states.
