SALISBURY, Md - Old man winter has left his mark on the Eastern Shore once again. In the past he's given us quite a beating, like February's Fury in 2010 or the blizzard of 2011. This time he took it easy on us. The little bit of snow cover we did get is melting away. So are all these spurts of flurries a tease for what old man winter has in store for us, or have we dodged the bullet of a major storm?
"We shouldn't see anything of a big storm like we've had in the last couple of years, but a little snow like we saw is possible over the next couple of weeks. However, we are trending towards the Spring pattern and that's what we should be seeing here moving in quickly," said WMDT's Meteorologist, Stephanie Allison.
DelDOT says while they haven't had much snow to plow, they've already maxed out their $3 million budget, set aside for storm preparation.
"We had a hurricane, we had a flood, we had a number of floods and then we had an earthquake, and all those events cause us to use our resources and have our people working overtime," said Jim Westhoff, Public Information officer for DelDOT.
Officials say if we do get a big blizzard, they can pull money from their operating budget. However, after weathering two severe storms, are Delmarva resident really ready for more snow?
"If we get maybe another inch of it that's alright, but if we don't get it for another two years we'll probably be fine," said Gary Tyler of Salisbury.
We also spoke with the State Highway Administration in Maryland. They say the money set aside for storm preparation will be used towards projects for safety and rideability on the roadways, if we don't get another storm.
