Celebrity Chef Supporting MD School Breakfast Program

Annapolis, Md. (AP) - A celebrity chef from Maryland will lobby lawmakers in support of a school breakfast program.

Bryan Voltaggio, owner of Volt restaurant in Frederick, will speak to a House of Delegates subcommittee Monday afternoon about the merits of increasing funding for the Maryland Meals for Achievement program.Run by the Maryland State Department of Education, the program provides in-classroom breakfasts for students at 228 high-need schools across the state.

Voltaggio gained fame after he was featured on the Bravo television program Top Chef. He will speak to the House Appropriations Committee's Subcommittee on Education.
