SALISBURY, Md. - Students at Wor-Wic Community College will join hundreds of others from Maryland's 16 community colleges Thursday to fight for more funding. They will head to Annapolis to urge lawmakers to boost funds, after they've taken massive hits. Taren Nance, in his second year at Wor-Wic, is speaking on behalf of Maryland for State Advocacy Day. He says after attending two universities and not doing so well, Wor-Wic has helped him find the path to success.
"I think that we need to open everyone's eyes to community college, and with myself and other students who are going to let people know we're here , we're strong, we're fighting like everyone else and we need a little help too," he said.
The rally kicks off at 9 a.m. at the State Capitol, and wraps up around noon.
