
Alphonso Virginia KellumEASTON, Md. - Alphonso Virginia Kellum , better known as Toots departed this life on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Easton Memorial Hospital, Easton, MD. She was born February 25, 1925 to the late William E. and Annie V. Harris Thomas in Royal Oak, MD. In 1945 she graduated from Moton High School in Easton, MD. For years Alphonso worked for various families in the area in a domestic capacity. Toots as she was affectionately called was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Longwoods, MD where she was a Communion Steward and sang in the Choir until her health began to fail.
She leaves to mourn her passing, two sons Richard Thomas of Easton, MD and David (Magda) Kellum of Cordova, MD; one brother Elbert Thomas of Easton, MD; one sister Lucy C Keene of Easton, MD; three step sons John (Gloria) Kellum, Jr. of Cordova, MD; Paul (Earlene) Kellum of Joppa, MD; and Arthur (Claretta) Kellum of Cordova, MD; one step daughter, Sharon Kellum of Cambridge, MD; five six grandsons, Estuarado, Issac, Arthur, Jr., Vernon, Phillip and Paul, Jr.; two step granddaughters, Claudia and Margo; three sister in laws, Helen Milbourne of Cordova, MD; Evelyn Styles of Philadelphia, PA and Amelia Wilson of Cordova, MD and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John Kellum; Sr. two sisters, Martha Thomas and Barbara Thomas; three brothers Herman Thomas, James Thomas and George Thomas; two half brothers Benjamin Gibson and Edward Harris; one half sister, Lillian Bentley.
Services were held on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012 at St. Luke UM Church Bellevue. Interment in Chapel Cemetery.
