
Mary Elizabeth MillerEASTON, Md. - Mary Elizabeth Miller, 84 of Easton, departed this life on Sun., Jan. 22, 2012 at Memorial Hospital in Easton, MD. Born December 10, 1927 in Salem, New Jersey, daughter of the late Robert Jones and Floretta Cropper. She was employed with Memorial Hospital within the Dietary and Housekeeping Departments until her retirement. Mary was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church. She was an active Missionary, Usher, Sunday School Teacher, President of the Nursery Ministry and the Delmarva Usher Association. Her favorite song was "Jesus Is The Center of my Joy." She looked forward to all family gatherings where food was being served. Her grandsons in-law, Jerald Dickerson and Ronald Gaines, acted as her personal chefs and delighted her with specialty prepared dishes.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by first husband, William H. Deshields, Sr. "Sonny", three sons, John Joseph, William H. Deshields Jr. "Buddy", Leslie Deshields and a grandson, Christopher Willey. She leaves to mourn her husband Vanderbilt Miller "Buster"; children, Rosalind Austin "Sissy", Carlene Phoenix (Serug), Mary Deshields "Penny", Floretta Deshields "Flo", Mark Deshields (Priscilla) and William J. Deshields "Ricky"; grandchildren, Raquel Gaines (Ronald), Tawne and Dennis Nelson, Ke'Shaune Deshields, Serug Phoenix Jr., Marrell Blake (Tanica), O'Shea Haynes "Shay", Lakieshia Copper Harding (Dennis), Montreyse and Dynesha Deshields, Markree and Mark "MJ" Deshields, Jock and Jonathan Deshields; 31 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; two brothers, Marvin Austin (North Carolina) and Thomas Austin (Pennsylvania); one sister, Maudesia Veney (Pennsylvania); 3 brothers in-law and two sisters in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services were held on Sat., Jan. 28, 2012 at Union Baptist Church 233 Glenwood Ave. Easton, MD with a viewing two hours prior to service. Interment in Whitemarsh Cemetery Trappe, MD.
